The following addition to this site is a bit unusual.  The photos and information were sent to me by a visitor to my site.  I have been in the neighborhood of this unique structure, but was not aware of its distinctness and took no pictures myself.  Now, thanks to Mr. William Gunderson, I know the whole story.

Lake Tower frame. Completed Lake Tower building. The first photograph shows the million-gallon water tank, used to equalize the water pressure of the Town of Lake, Wisconsin, with the framework of the surrounding office building.  The second photograph shows the completed building in 1938, which housed the new water system and municipal offices, including a Health Department Clinic. Over the years since then, Lake was absorbed into the city of Milwaukee and a modernized water system ended the need for the tank itself.  Officially abandoned in 2001, the still-structurally sound structure has recently been remodeled to house residential inspectors and environmental health personnel for the city.
